Trans Naning 12.09.2020
السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
I have mentioned in my previous post, I nak belajar new skills and find new hobbies. And I berjaya! I joined a group of hikers with Ari and we just finished our hike at Trans Naning (7 Summit) last Sunday. It was so hard that both of us balik rumah dengan badan mengigil-gigil sebab terlalu penat. But Alhamdulillah everything went well and none of us got injured.
Sejujurnya, for Ari and I, Trans Naning is beyond our capability and we were very much reluctant to participate. But somehow, both of us rasa macam nak challenge diri. At least for once in our lives we have actually hike Trans mountains. I tersangat risau untuk mendaki gunung sebab I've been working behind desk for too long and I don't think my body could handle hiking 21km trail in a day. Especially when my only experience in hiking cuma lah pendakian bukit yang rendah or bertangga. Ari being herself memang sangat supportive dalam hal-hal macam ni. Bila I kata I tak rasa boleh buat, she will say "Kita buat sama-sama. Slow pun tak apa. We will do this together".
Our trip started at 0400 am Saturday morning with Gunung Datuk as the first summit. It was so hard that I took almost 3 hour to reach the top. Well that is only when you are lack of stamina like me. Normally, pendakian ke puncak Gunung Datuk will only take around 2 hours. First part of the trail is a bit steep and the elevation suprised me as it is nothing like what I used to hike. Back then I was slowly regretting my decision joining the trip since the first part is already making me suffer. But Alhamdulillah, the team sweeper was so nice and they keep on supporting us till the top.
The second summit is Gunung Rembau and the trail was not as hard as mendaki Gunung Datuk. Mendaki Gunung Rembau tersangatlah santai dan mudah. The trail was very much similar to the bukit-bukit yang I biasa naik. From Gunung Rembau to the third summit Gunung Gagak was also similar. Santai, landai but a bit naik turun juga. From the third summit to the fourth summit which is Puncak 701 was a struggle. Somehow I can feel the energy depleting and my body feels heavy. I'm not hungry but I felt so sleepy. So when I finally reached the fourth summit I took a nap. Power naps really helps to reduce fatigue as the trail to the next checkpoint was a struggle. At this point, the team has separated into two and we both joined the sweeper team as we can't keep up with the faster team. It was raining, the trail become so muddy and slippery. I've fell few times and even broke my hiking pole. Going down to the bottom of Camp Ultra and having a slippery trail makes it harder to move fast. Once sampai ke Camp Ultra, I sambung my power nap since later kena mendaki semula untuk ke Puncak 705.
Having an injured members due to the slippery trails almost makes us stayed overnight in Camp Ultra. But Alhamdulillah, with the support of the team we manage to continue to Puncak 705. Slowly but surely. At this point, it was already getting dark and we are way passed the targeted time frame. Everyone started to feel exhausted and discouraged. Then they started playing jokes and having fun during the hike. They started singing, teasing but at the same time concern with each other. If someone gets tired, we stopped and make sure they gain some energy before we continue. I was one of the members who received a lot of care as my body started getting tired and my breathing got heavy. I was so touched with every words of support from them and very much appreciated it. We were so determined to finished the hike, and manage to reach top of the steep trail to Puncak 705.
From Puncak 705 to Gunung Tampin Utara, the trip was one of the smoothest trail, naik turun a bit but we can still managed. It was similar to the trail to Gunung Rembau and Gunung Gagak. The only struggle that we faced is the slippery muddy trail and the depleting energy. Even our guide and the 'pro' hikers started to feel sleepy and although we feel bad, we can't help but joke about it. The last summit is Gunung Tampin Selatan, at the time we reached the last summit it was already 2300 pm. We were so determined to finished at that point and the movement start to get faster. As the trail was only going downwards, I can't help but to slide down the slippery trail. Better to messed my pants than falling down on my face. Well it does makes the movement faster. And finally at 0030 am Sunday, we managed to complete Trans Naning (7 summits). It was such a joyful moment when we are able to see our transportation waiting at the end of the road. Everyone was congratulating each other on the achievement to finish the hike.
Having a good team was so crucial in challenging Trans Naning. We are so glad that we get to experience it with 'Geng Lanun Puncak'. Their teamwork is one of the best. They were very supportive, caring, funny and crazy at the same time. Our trip started at 0400 and ended at 0030 the next day due to some of the member got injured, but during the hike it was full of laughter. They are such a fun group of people to be with. They left us both with only good memories and we can't thank them enough. May Allah bless all of them with eternal happiness.
